Character Grade

White Oak Character Grade Details

- Also referred to as A Grade, AB Grade or #1 Common and Better Grade. 

• Sound knots no more than 2" in size per board that are completely filled 
• Open knots or defects are not allowed and less than 1" in size. All knots are filled to 90% & could have peak hole
• About 7 pin knots nore more than 1/8" each in size per board and open pin knots must be filled
• Natural color variation from the wood is allowed
• Splits are about 1/16" wide or less and are no longer than 4" in length and must color fill
• Sapwood is targeted to 5% of total sqare footage
• Rot is not allowed

 

Red Oak Character Grade Details

- Also referred to as A Grade, AB Grade or #1 Common and Better Grade.
